6kW Solar Grid-Tied System

McCormick Motors 6kW Solar Grid-Tied System was partially funded with a grant winning from the Alternative Power and Energy Grant Program. Gordon Moore, owner of this auto dealership in Nappanee, IN, has been researching renewable energy and energy conversation over the past decade. This project, which was designed in conjunction with an Economics Class at Goshen College, serves as an ongoing educational site for Goshen College and other area high schools. McCormick's has taken many other energy conservation steps including adding insulation, high-efficiency lighting and programmable equipment which is turned on by demand only. The system includes Sharp 216 Watt solar panels, a Sunny Boy 7000US inverter, a Sunny Boy WebBox and Sunny SensorBox for system communications and monitoring.
